Are you ready to evolve your approach to teaching American Jewish history? Join the National Educators’ Institute’s 2024 Speaker Series for a transformative professional development experience. Participants will expand their understanding and teaching of American Jewish experiences and connect with fellow Jewish educators.
You will learn from today’s leading scholars and discuss, with fellow educators, how to approach hard topics in your classrooms using inquiry-based approaches and primary source materials. Each session includes a scholar presentation from scholars listed below, followed by a 30-minute session with our program co-directors discussing practical applications in your educational setting. The Institute focuses on methods that increase students’ ability to interpret primary sources, encourage rich dialogues, and build empathy, including the Museum’s innovative curriculum, OpenBook: Discovering American Jewish History Through Objects.

What is the National Educators’ Institute (NEI)? NEI at The Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History is an annual event geared towards Jewish educators, offering professional development, resources, and collaborative opportunities to enhance their teaching practices.
When and where is NEI 2024 taking place? NEI 2024 will feature 90-minute livestream sessions throughout the year.
How do I register for NEI 2024? You can register for NEI 2024 through our website or by contacting our registration team at education@theweitzman.org.
Is there a registration fee? Yes, you can subscribe to the entire Speaker Series for $75. The kickoff will be a keynote lecture by Dara Horn. This session is also open to the public for $18.
What if cost is a barrier for me to participate? If cost is a barrier, please reach out directly to Carley Paul, the Manager of Education, at cpaul@theweitzman.org.
What is included in the subscription? The Speaker Series subscription includes access to all livestreamed sessions throughout the year as well as digital materials provided during the events.
Can I attend only specific sessions or days? We ask participating educators to commit to attending the entire series to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive experience. However, the keynote by Dara Horn is open to the public as a stand-alone session for $18.
Will sessions be recorded? Yes, all sessions will be recorded and made available to attendees after the event.
How can I access past or missed livestream sessions? Registered attendees will receive a link to access the sessions.
