July 2 will be a day of ‘pomp and parade’ as envisioned by John Adams

A vibrant display of patriotic celebration, the Red, White, & Blue To-Do Pomp & Parade will feature festooned decor, concerts, games, extended visitation hours at area historic attractions, restaurant specials, and much more. For details and information, visit the Independence Visitors Center. 

The parade will kick off at the National Constitution Center and wind through the Historic District, concluding around noon at Carpenters Hall. This monumental occasion promises to be a memorable experience for all. Remember, participation is free, but space is limited, so we strongly encourage you to register in advance to secure your spot in this historic event now: Pomp & Parade Sign-Up

Schedule
  • 9-11 am: Sites open to the public; various flag raisings, etc. 
  • 11 am – 3 pm: Go Fourth and Learn Event at Carpenters Hall 
  • 11 am – 4 pm: New Freedom Quest Scavenger Hunt at The Weitzman. Learn how Jewish Americans embraced American freedoms! Our scavenger hunts, designed for ages 3-12, make this journey educational and fun.
  • 11 am: Pomp & Parade Kicks-off at National Constitution Center
  • 12 pm: Pomp & Parade arrives at Carpenters Hall 
  • 12-2 pm: Outdoor Food Festival/Events in Old City

  • 2-7 pm:  Musical performances at four locations throughout the Historic District: Arch Street Meeting House, African American Museum in Philadelphia, National Liberty Museum, and Elfreth’s Alley

Philadelphia’s historic district is thrilled to invite community members to participate in the inaugural Red, White, & Blue To-Do Pomp & Parade! We encourage all participants to dress in festive red, white, and blue clothing, carry flags or other fun flair, and come ready to smile, wave, sing, dance, or otherwise show off your patriotic spirit as we process through the Historic District.


DECORATING DAYS – June 29, 30, and July 1

Be a part of the preparation for the upcoming Red, White, & Blue To-Do! Philadelphia’s Historic District welcomes you to join us for Decorating Days. Your participation is crucial in creating the official wagon floats for the Red, White, & Blue To-Do Pomp & Parade. Let’s make this event truly ours!

The National Constitution Center is hosting the wagon decorating sessions on June 29, 30, and July 1. The activity is free, but space is limited, so advance registration is strongly encouraged. Visit here for details, or reserve your spot to decorate
