Join us for an insightful and moving online event, co-hosted by the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History and ANU – Museum of the Jewish People, as we come together to mark the first anniversary of October Seventh. This special program will focus on how this tragic day has forever impacted American Jewry and Israelis, highlighting personal reflections and scholarly analysis. Featuring a distinguished panel of speakers—award-winning author Dara Horn (People Love Dead Jews), Rabbi Dr. Jacob J. Schacter of Yeshiva University, Dr. Jeremy Fogel from Tel Aviv University, and Dana Sender-Mulla, co-founder of Zikaron BaSalon—the conversation will explore collective memory, trauma, and resilience within the Jewish community.

Following the panel discussion, global participants will have the unique opportunity to engage in a facilitated conversation, reflecting on the profound loss of life and the ongoing hostage situation in Gaza. This interactive component offers a space for processing grief, honoring those who were lost, and finding a path toward shared healing.

The panelists bring a wide range of expertise to this discussion. Dara Horn is an acclaimed author whose works explore Jewish history and identity, Rabbi Dr. Jacob J. Schacter is a respected scholar of Jewish history and thought, Dr. Jeremy Fogel is a philosopher specializing in Jewish ethics, and Dana Sender-Mulla leads community memory projects aimed at preserving personal Holocaust stories. Together, they will provide deep insights into the emotional and communal impact of October Seventh.

This free event will be conducted in English with simultaneous Hebrew translation and is part of a broader initiative by the Tisch Center for Jewish Dialogue at ANU and The Weitzman Museum. Our partners include MASA: Israel Journey, Hillel Tel Aviv, and Zikaron BaSalon, who have contributed to making this vital conversation possible.
