More About Jonah Platt
From an early age, Judaism, entertainment, and the arts have been the cornerstones of Jonah Platt’s life. Raised in Los Angeles by award-winning producer Marc Platt and Jewish philanthropist Julie Platt, Jonah grew up with a deep sense of Jewish identity, creativity, and advocacy. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, he launched a multifaceted career as a Broadway actor, television writer, singer, musician, producer, director, lyricist, composer, improv performer, and podcaster.
Jonah is best known for his standout performances as Fiyero in Wicked on Broadway, Woof in Hair at the Hollywood Bowl alongside Kristen Bell, Horst in Neil Patrick Harris’ Coupled, and for his role in the Oscar-nominated Being the Ricardos. He is currently producing and co-starring in his first feature film, The Mensch, and co-writing a musical adaptation of Lois Lowry’s beloved novel The Giver.
In 2023, following the Hamas attacks on Israeli civilians, Jonah became a passionate advocate for reshaping conversations around Jewish identity. His outspokenness led to the creation of his most meaningful project yet: Being Jewish with Jonah Platt. Jonah now speaks internationally, performing, writing, and creating with an eye toward building understanding and pride in Jewish life. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, professional dancer and MS advocate Courtney Platt, and their three children.
