Antisemitism is not an aberration in American history—it’s a thread woven through it. In her urgent and sweeping new book, Antisemitism, an American Tradition, acclaimed historian Pamela Nadell traces nearly four centuries of anti-Jewish prejudice on American soil, from Peter Stuyvesant’s attempt to expel Jews in 1654 to modern-day acts of deadly violence and hate. Yet her story is also one of resilience—of communities organizing, resisting, and affirming their place in American life.

Join us for a timely and eye-opening conversation between Nadell and Weitzman Museum CEO Dan Tadmor, exploring how antisemitism in the United States has endured, evolved, and been met with fierce and creative resistance. As incidents of antisemitism rise across the country, this event offers a vital opportunity to ground our understanding in the long arc of American history—and to consider what comes next.

About The Weitzman’s President & CEO

Dan Tadmor joined the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History in January 2025, having most recently served as CEO of ANU–Museum of the Jewish People in Tel Aviv. With a career marked by transformative leadership, Tadmor has been at the helm of prominent organizations, driving growth, innovation, and strategic reinvention across media, cultural, and nonprofit sectors for nearly four decades. At ANU, Tadmor led a decade-long, $100 million transformation of the institution, formerly known as Beit Hatfutsot, into the world’s largest and most comprehensive museum of its kind. Under his leadership, the museum has become a vibrant, award-winning hub for Jewish identity and culture, recognized for its innovative Core Exhibition, global reach, and dynamic educational programming. A voracious reader with a passion for American history, Tadmor eagerly anticipates the commemorations that mark America’s 250th in 2026. He is spearheading the Weitzman’s semiquincentennial plans from the institution’s home base on Historic Independence Mall in Philadelphia which include a special exhibition in tandem with the first phase of the Weitzman’s renewal.
