Courageous Choices
Grades 6-12

The Weitzman is proud to feature award-winning actor, dancer, and instructor, Khalil Munir in our signature program, Courageous Choices. The program features Khalil’s riveting one-person show, 1 Pound, 4 Ounces. Through passionate storytelling, music, and improvisational tap dance, the performance chronicles how Munir channeled childhood adversities like his dyslexia and his father’s incarceration into a life as an artistic risk-taker and respected role model.

Includes 1 Pound, 4 Ounces, a talk-back with the artist, and examples of American Jews featured at the Museum; learn about the shared history between the black and Jewish communities and how we worked together during the Civil Rights movement to try to overcome our country’s legacy of slavery and oppression.
