Join the Philadelphia Jewish community for a public commemoration event in honor of the memory of more than 1,200 Israelis, Americans, and other nationals murdered by Hamas terrorists on and since October 7, 2023. The event will also include a vigil for those still held hostage. Please wear yellow.

Hosted by Zach Sage Fox, Facts for Peace advocate and entertainer, the evening will feature powerful speeches from those directly affected by the crisis in Israel, including relatives of current hostages, and video messages from Israeli families impacted by the violence. A joint clergy memorial ceremony, highlighted by a symbolic shofar blast, will offer a moment of reflection and solidarity. In addition, local Philadelphia teenagers who have already taken action in support of Israel will issue a heartfelt call to action.

After the program, the community will come together, holding handmade lanterns in the shape of a yellow ribbon—a symbol of remembrance and hope, with a call to bring the remaining hostages home. Standing united, we will listen to the names of the fallen and kidnapped, accompanied by the Jewish chorale of Greater Philadelphia Nashirah. They will perform the world premiere of a choral arrangement by Cantor Natasha Hirschhorn of the Israeli song “October Rain,” with lyrics referencing the October 7 massacre.
